Personality + History
Personality: Archimedes is a ticking time bomb of bottled up emotions with the pressure building. On the outside he appears calm and collected, as he tries really hard to appear such a way. In reality he's a bundle of nerves, panicking about nearly everything internally. He is incredibly good at hiding it all though, appearing normal and not ready to breakdown at any minute, no sir. He's generally kind and friendly, enjoying quiet times. If you're able to break his exterior you'll find a nervous child easy to cry and to easily hurt their feelings.
History: Nathaniel Sherwood was either the luckiest or unluckiest man there was. Not only had be had been approached by Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty and Love AND given a beautiful child with said goddess, but later after she left, he was approached by Athena, Goddess of Wisdom. The man was a smart one and quick witted and despite the slight derail of his life at the child he had previously gained, but honestly and especially since his relationship with Aphrodite, Nathaniel had worn down and no longer shined like he used to, but AThena in her pettiness...having just had another fight with the goddess wanted to take it out on one of her children. Aphrodite wouldn't care, but ruining her children's lives from time to time was a thing Athena liked to do and so she did to Dominic, Nathaniel's kid.
He was a poor man seeking love and attention after Aphrodite so easily just left him with the child, and look what it did. He needed her, she'd give him that love and attention, he just needed to get rid of the small 2 year old boy and everything would be fixed. The desperate man did so and she gave him what he wanted. She was there, loving and caring and he started to improve again, back to the top. And in an almost identical fashion...she presented him with a child a year into the relationship. At least she didn't leave out of the blue, she stayed until the child was a year old and told Nathaniel he'll have everything he wanted as long as this child, Archimedes proved he was worthy of the Athena household. She would return when he was 10 and deem if he was worthy...and then she left.
From there one Nathaniel, in fear for himself and his son begun doing everything for Archimedes. He knew Athena valued knowledge and got him the best utors money could buy and had him on a diligent studying course since he could read. He had no time for recreational activities or friends. His father cared about him, he did...despite being very distant. He would say he was doing this more for Archimedes than himself, wondering what the great and powerful Athena would do if her child didn't met up to her standards, he already lost one son, he didn't want to lose another.
Little Archimedes has a heavy weight on his shoulders from a young age, pressured to do more than his very best, he couldn't do the best he could...he had to be THE best. He was put through extensive tutoring along with being taught in a prestigious school (Super elite private preschool). He did nothing but study and work, at age 10 he was testing at a high school freshman level. After his 10th birthday, it was that fateful day. Athena, his mother came to visit. Young Archimedes wanted to know his mother, the other kids had them, played with them..how come his didn't? Instead of receiving a warm embrace, he was met with striking grey eyes, like his, analyzing him. The test begun, she started asking questions and he answered best he could. Nervous because nearly all of them weren't questions with a definite answer to them, questions to be discussed.
At the end both Archimedes and his father held their breaths awaiting the judgement...he passed. They were able to breathe again, that was wonderful. She told him to show an arm and when presented she gave him the mark, as painful as that was he tried to keep from crying out, he was accepted...but that wasn't the end. Athena had not told Nathaniel that this was just the first part of the test. From this point on Archimedes would be thrown into a world for excessive studying as well as training in weaponry and the arts.
He was pulled from his private school and begun intensive home schooling from the best tutors money could buy. The weight on the young boy's shoulder increased 10 fold, having actually met his mother. He terrified of disappointing her. So he threw himself into the studying, even taking initiative and studying during his very few moments of free time. His father just growing more and more distant unable to do anything and just keep pushing him, also fearing Athena's wrath.
The next year he began training with weapons, he was expected to master a new weapon every week. Bringing in a master of each weapon in for hard and long sessions until he was perfect with them. Archimedes, being a child of Athena, already had a natural ability to be able to use any weapon despite previous knowledge...but that wasn't good enough. He had to be more than just 'good' at everything he did. He needed to be amazing, one of the best...otherwise she would be disappointed.
At 13 he started studying outside, he couldn't handle being stuck inside all the time. He wasn't allowed to go out for free time, too busy studying and training. His attitude greatly improved by working in their family garden and so he started to spend all of his time there. He enjoyed the feeling of the warm sun on his skin, he'd often sit and wondered if that's what the loving touch from a parent would be...but he never let those thoughts linger for long...they were distracting.
Athena would make her regular check up on Archimedes progress, as she did with all her kids, and everytime the blonde was hopeful that maybe he could get some sort of praise and approval...but every time he was met with 'Work harder.' So it's what he's doing. Pushing all other emotions out and focusing on his goals.
